Born and raised behind the Iron Curtain in Prague, Tomas Belcik defected to see the world. Having completed his education in the United States, he gave up his career in architecture-urban design and started an adventure travel company. As a tour operator, he prepared and carried out trips for countless clients, while himself he always traveled on his own self-guided and self-supported adventures, including daring journeys with his 4-year-old son. Trekking and cycling around the world for half a century, he has visited every corner of the globe, often drawn to remote areas, off the beaten paths, but always self-reliant.
