Namtso to Tsedang
Tibet tours main page

After seeing all of the highlights of Lhasa, your tour continues toward Namtso, the "Heavenly Lake", a bird sanctuary and the largest saltwater lake in Tibet. Found in an elevation of some 4590 meters above sea level, the lake is situated at the edge of the barren and wind-swept Chang Thang Plateau north of Lhasa. The journey to Namtso includes visits to several well-known monasteries - Ganden, Drigung, Tidrom, Tsurphu and Reting. Second half of your tour packs in trip to the cradle of Tibetan civilization in Tsedang and Yarlung Valley, with a visit to Yumbulakhang, the first castle of Tibet, and en route stopping to visit Samye, the oldest Monastery of Red Hat sect, as well as the imposing Mindroling Monastery, the largest Nyingmapa-sect monastery in Central Tibet.
