Itinerary:
This is a 3 nights in Kathmandu and 4 nights in
Lhasa, total of 7 nights/8 days tour, typically
departing Kathmandu for Lhasa on Tuesdays. For the
one-day shorter tour, departing Kathmandu on
Saturdays, please use tour #1 link above.
Day 01:
Arrival at the Kathmandu Airport & transfer to Hotel
Manaslu.
Day 02:
After breakfast full day sight seeing tour of
Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Bhaktapur City,
Swayambhunath stupa. Overnight at the Hotel in
Kathmandu.
Day 03:
Fly to Lhasa, check into a hotel; rest of the day at
your leisure for acclimatization. Overnight in Hotel
Dhood Gu or similar.
Day 04:
Visit Sera
Monastery, Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Street.
Sera is the second biggest Gelukpa Monastery in the
north suburb of Lhasa, built in 1419 by Tsongkhapa's
disciple - Sakya Yeshe. Situated at the heart of the
oldest section of the Lhasa city, Jokhang, one of
the oldest temples in Tibet, was built in the 7th
century by the 33rd king - Songtsen Gampo. Barkhor
is the middle pilgrimage circuit around Jokhang
Temple.
Day 05:
Sightseeing
Potala Palace, Drepung Monastery & Norbulingka.
(Potala was the winter palace of the King Songtsen
Gampo and rebuilt to the present size by the 5th
Dalai Lama. in the 17th century. Built in 1416 by
Tsongkhapa's disciple - Jamyang Choje. Drepung
Monastery is the biggest Gelukpa monastery in the
west suburb of Lhasa. Built in the mid 18th century
by the 7th Dalai Lama, Norbulingka, the Jewel Park
was the Dalai Lama' summer palace; it covers 100
acres with palaces, pavilions and a zoo.
Day 06:
Visit Drepung
Monastery, Tibetan hospital and nunnery.
Day 07:
Return flight
Lhasa - Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 08:
Departure.
