This 5 day / 4 night tour is similar to Discover Panama #2 but without the Partial Canal Transit instead of which we include a visit to the Embera Indian community in the Cahares National Park. As our other tours it allows you to experience the very best of what Panama has to offer.

Itinerary:

 

DAY ONE

Arrive at Tocumen International & met by our representative.
Ground transfer to your Hotel (Hotel Package you pre-select)

Includes: Transfer, escort, hotel + tax, breakfast provided by the hotel.
Not included: Gratuities, mini bar, and additional amenities in your Hotel & Room. Dinner is not included unless specified in your package.

DAY TWO

9:00 am Pickup at hotel for the Panama City and the Panama Canal.
Visit Old Panama, the first Spanish colony in the Pacific of the Americas, then we will travel through Panama’s Banking District, with over 98 banks, to the second city of Panama -- Colonial Panama or Casco Antiguo. Colonial Panama dates from 1673, right after the Panama’s first city was ransacked by the notorious pirate Henry Morgan. We will walk around the complex ruins of the fortification of San Felipe. You will get a feeling of New Orleans, without Bourbon Street. Narrow, cobblestone streets lined with French Colonial Building, all with balconies.

Before lunch, we’ll visit Amador Causeway, one of the most scenic locations in Panama City. We’ll stop at Isla Flamenco for some duty free shopping and pictures

12:30 pm Lunch at one of our favorite local Café’ or Restaurants
(Max $10 per person allowed for meals).

1:30 pm Tour continues thru the old Canal Zone, residential area, and along former U.S. Military bases to the Miraflores Visitor Center and Museum.

4:30 pm Depart for the Historic Balboa YMCA Arts and Crafts. Walk & shop among vendors representing all the indigenous groups in Panama. Bring small bills for bargaining.

5:30 pm Arrive Hotel

7:00 pm Pick up for dinner at Las Tinajas, located in downtown Panama City. You’ll enjoy a dinner of local favorites & International Cuisine, while entertained with dancing & music typical of Panama.

Includes: Guide, driver, air-conditioned van or bus, sodas, juice & water, entrances fees, and $10 max lunch consumption. Dinner & cocktail included ($35 per person max).
Not included: Tips, lunch cost over $10 per person. Additional drinks & tips at dinner over the $35 per person.

NOTE: Can be a late night (10:00 pm to 12:00 am)

DAY THREE

8:00 am Pickup for a relaxing day in the highlands of Panama,
El Valle de Anton Tour is located in an extinct volcano crater, Volcan Gaital. This largest extinct volcano in Central America erupted 2.8 million years ago.


On our trip to El Vale, you’ll get an opportunity to experience Panama life in the country side, known as the Highlands or Interior. Life is much different here, the people are friendly & warm representing many cultures. You’ll travel from the bay of Panama into the mountains in less than 2 hours. Along the way, we’ll see roadside vendors selling their crafts & farm products. Short stops to shop can be made, we recommend on the return trip. Trip is a short, scenic 2 hours.

10:00 am Arrival in the Valle of Anton. We’ll stop for snacks and the restroom. Then, we are off to El Macho, a breathtaking trail, waterfall & Canopy Tour. The Canopy Adventure is an additional cost, and there are health & weight restrictions.

11:30 am Return to village for lunch (Local Café’) & shopping at the Local Artisan Market. Recommend: Small bills for shopping & bargaining with vendors is ok.

1:00 pm We go across town to visit the Nispero Zoo & Biological Park.
Here you’ll experience large variation of orchids, plants & trees native to Panama. There is a well-kept preserve of Panama’s wildlife. A well laid out trail. Caution: Those with knee, angel or hip injuries should consider this adventure with caution, many roots & dips along this natural trail.

2:15 pm Depart for visit relaxing visit to the Hot Springs & Botanical Garden. Get a cleansing mud bath, hot natural shower or just relax your feet in the hot spring water.

3:30 pm Depart for Panama City, with a short stop to view & take photos of the Sleeping Indian Princess. We’ll share the legend of the sleeping princess with you.

5:30 pm Arrival at your Hotel. Evening & Dinner at Leisure.

Includes: Guide, driver, air conditioned bus or van, park entrances fees, $10 max per person for lunch. Not included: Tips, lunch cost over the allotted $10, alcoholic drinks, and the Canopy Tour.

DAY FOUR

8:00 am Embera Indian Village, located at the river banks of the Chagres River National Park.

We’ll travel by road for an hour to the township of Corotu. There will be greeted by the Embera Indian guides.

9:00 am Depart by dugout canoe to the Village. Prior to boarding, each will be given a life vest. After boarding, we will travel 45 minutes up river, passing our village located on the right side of the riverbank. This is a travel back in time, as you step onto this dugout canoe & pull away from the slippery bank, you will be mentally transported to 1500 Panama. On our voyage, view the canopy jungle reaching out over the Chagres full of wildlife; River Otters, Toucans, monkeys, Iguana, Sloth, or even a Cayman quietly sliding back into the river to cool off.

Our destination is a jungle canopy trail full of adventure & surprises. Our trail departs the riverbank and enters the jungle with a slight incline. Caution: Those with knee, angel or hip injuries should consider this adventure with caution, many roots & dips along this natural trail. All participants that want to participate on this trail must be physically fit, and able to bend, grab and pull there bodies up & over the rocks. There are some slippery & muddy areas, but you will be able to wash off in a natural pool.

As you complete the trail, you will arrive at one of nature’s gifts – a breath taking waterfall! Here you can take swim or just wash off in the natural pool.

10:30 Depart for the village. Short canoe ride back down the river, we will be met by the Village community, adults & children.

Our guide will take us to the Community Hut, where you will be able to leave your things. You’ll be allowed some time to walk around the village to see how the Embera live and to interact with the community.

11:30 am Lunch. You’ll partake in a traditional Embera lunch; fried Tilapia or Peacock Bass, along with fried green plantains.
We’ll have a cooler with water & soda for you & our guest. During lunch, Chief Antonio will share information on the Embera way of life.

After lunch, its back to the Community Hut for traditional dances & music.

Embera are world-renown for their arts & crafts. Recommend: Bring small bills fro shopping. Any purchases benefit the entire community.

2:00 pm Say our goodbyes! Depart for Panama City via river to our departure point.

3:30 pm Estimated arrival back at your Hotel. Evening & Dinner at Leisure.

Includes: Guide, air conditioned van or bus, park entrance fees. Embera lunch, bottle water or soda.

DAY FIVE

Hotel pickup for the airport will be coordinated according to the departure time of your flight. Please do remember that all travels need to be at the airport two hours before estimated departure time of your flight.
