Itinerary:
Day
1:
Arrive
at Panama International Airport, transfer to your
hotel in Panama City.
Overnight at the hotel in the city, Hotel
Marbella or similar. No meals.
Day
2
Panama
City – Rio Indio
After
breakfast our guide will pick you at the hotel for a
half-day city tour - the ruins of Old Panama,
destroyed by the pirate Sir Henry Morgan in 1671; the
Colonial and Modern City and Miraflores Locks on the
way to the Atlantic side.
Observe the Canal once again at Gatun Locks,
drive on a beautiful coastal road until you reach the
community of Rio Indio, at the river mouth by the sea,
where our adventures begins. Sleep
on the floor of a private house at Rio Indio. All
meals.
Day
3
Start
the coast to coast traverse: navigate in a
dug-out-canoe for approximately four hours until you
get to La Boca de Uracillo community. Eat lunch and
start trekking until you reach the community of San
Cristobal. Sleep
on the floor of the local school. All meals.
Day
4
Trek
to Los Valles, all day along the riverbed of Rio Indio
until you reach the community of Rio Indio Los Valles.
Sleep on the
floor of the local school. All meals.
Day
5
Trek
to Jordanal, walking up along the riverbed of Rio
Indio until you reach the community of Jordanal, at an
elevation of approximately 350 meters or 1,200 feet.
The temperature gets cooler and the river smaller, but
nature is more prolific. Sleep
on the floor of the local school. All meals.
Day
6
Trek
to El Valle, walking up until you get to the mouth of
the extinct volcano El Valle, at 660 meters or 2,150
feet above sea level, providing for a cooler climate.
Spend the night at one of the local Hotel/Resort
before the last and final day of trekking. Overnight
at Hotel Campestre. All meals.
Day
7
Trek
to the Pacific Ocean. Walk up the the rim of the
volcano and enjoy the beautiful view of the Pacific
Ocean, and an overwhelming sense of achievement and
self satisfaction. Walk all day until you reach the shore of the Pacific, have a
swim, then a good meal at a local restaurant and drive
back to Panama City on the Inter American Highway.
Passing over the Bridge of the Americas, linking North
and South America over the Pacific entrance of the
Canal, will make this an unforgettable and historic
trip for you. Overnight at your Hotel in Panama City,
Hotel Marbella or similar. Breakfast and lunch.

8
Panama
City - free day at your leisure : on your own do
partial or full Canal transit, go to Barro Colorado
Island, Embera Drua (Indian Village), go shopping or
rest. Overnight at your Hotel. Breakfast.
Day
9
Transfer
to the airport and departure. Breakfast.

This tour is rated "Moderate" as it takes
place in high tropical temperatures! Although not over
a particularly difficult terrain, the hikes involve
average distances of 15 to 25 kilometers per day. Only
individuals in good physical condition should sign up!
