The second day we will have a trip around the island. You'll enjoy the nature and appreciate the colorful environment, including pethroglifs done by the Indians.  Overnight at Moyogalpa.

Arrive in Managua airport and transfer by plane to San Carlos. From here we'll take you by boat to Solentiname. Overnight.  Lunch and dinner are included.

After breakfast, we begin our day with a trip by the Biological Reserve Los Guatuzos; transport by boat.  Enjoy variety of fauna - crocodiles, monkeys and a lot of species of birds, a place of wild scenic beauty. Lunch and dinner are included.

DAY 01 MANAGUA-LEON

Pick up at the international airport or at your hotel, departure to León.  Visit the Old Leon Ruins, city tour of colonial city of Leon, including the main churches and the indigenous towns named Subtiava and El Laborío.  Overnight in Leon.

DAY 02 LEON-CHINANDEGA-COSIGUINA VOLCANO-CHINANDEGA

Wake up at 05:00 a.m. and depart to Chinandega; arrive at the farm South Cosigüina, located at the foothill of the Cosigüina Volcano which last eruption was in 1835 when its ashes reached all the way to Mexico City.  Before we ascent the volcano you will learn about a cattle farm, have a chance even to milk cows; taste typical local snacks and coffee, and ride around on a 4 x 4 wheel vehicle, see wonderful panoramic views etc. Then start on horseback to the summit of the volcano with its impressive view of the Gulf de Fonseca, the only place where you can observe the borders of the three central American countries: El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua.  Lunch and time to take pictures.  Return to Chinandega and lodging at Cosigüina Hotel.

DAY 03 EL VIEJO -EL REALEJO-CHICHIGALPA-MANAGUA

Visit The Basilica de El Viejo and departure to Paso Caballos, El Realejo; at Chichigalpa visit the Flor de Caña Rum factory, tasting included. Return to Managua.

DAY 01 GRANADA

We will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the colonial city of Granada.  Check in at the hotel to continue on a tour of the city.  Visit the Museum at Convent San Francisco, the Cathedral, the Central Square and other architectural attractions.  Overnight at Granada.

DAY 02  GRANADA-MASAYA

Visit the incredible Masaya National Park, starting with a visit to its anthropology museum located at the foothill of the volcano. Next it's to the impressive crater, see the strange caves where the indigenous peoples performed sacrifices; experience the “Balcony of  Echo", the birds that adopted to the sulfur gases, and more. Return to Granada and overnight.

DAY 03 GRANADA-CARAZO-CATARINA-LAGUNA DE APOYO

Visit to Carazo where we will take the Coffee Tour; in the afternoon on to the Catarina town and the  stunning panorama of the Laguna Apoyo. Overnight in a small hotel located on the shores of Apoyo lagoon.

Day 04 LAGUNA DE APOYO-SAN CARLOS-RIO SAN JUAN

Transfer to the airport to take a domestic flight to San Carlos, continue to San Juan River and sail through exuberant vegetation to a small, secluded hotel where we will lodge.

Day 05 SAN JUAN RIVER

Visit to the Natural Reserve Indio Maíz, where we will see a lot of species of wildlife - crocodiles, monkeys, cormorants and birds of many exotic species etc.  Overnight.

Day 06 RIO SAN JUAN-MANAGUA

Departure for San Carlos and return trip to Managua.

DAY 02 SOLENTINAME-RESERVE LOS GUATUZOS-SOLENTINAME

To Wildlife Reserve on the Los Guatuzos River by boat, starting early, at 05:30 a.m.; see crocodiles, monkeys and a lot of species of birds in their natural environment.  Last visit La Venada and Fernanda Islands where you can appreciate the local naïve painters.  Overnight at Lodge.

DAY 03 SOLENTINAME-SAN JUAN RIVER “NATURAL RESERVE INDIO MAIZ”

By boat on San Juan River to visit the splendor of the Biological and Natural Reserve Indio-Maíz. Overnight at  Lodge.

DAY 04 SAN JUAN RIVER “EL CASTILLO

After breakfast, we will have a walk through the jungle, enjoy the vegetation and fauna.  Afternoon visit the fortress El Castillo. Overnight at Lodge.

DAY 05 SAN JUAN RIVER-MANAGUA  (OR COSTA RICA “LOS CHILES”)

A special trip that will allow you to travel the Pacific strip of Nicaragua's volcanic chain, formed by 25 volcanoes in a perfect alignment to the Pacific Coast, from Cosigüina to Ometepe, a tour of volcanoes combined with highlights of culture, flora and fauna of Nicaragua. 

Day 01 MANAGUA

The airport will be our meeting point to transfer you to your chosen hotel.

Day 02 MANAGUA-MASAYA-GRANADA

We start our trip visiting the Masaya Volcano National Park and its Natural History Museum, which includes samples of indigenous ceramics, learn about the history of the volcano, interesting dates of its eruption, etc. Next continue by paved road to La Plaza de Oviedo from where we will enjoy the impressive beauty of Santiago´s crater, observe the nesting of small parrots (named “Chocoyos”) which has adapted to the sulfurous gases of  this active volcano.  Continue to the “Balcony of Echo”, then visit the “Cave of Bats” which begins its route in the Santiago crater, 612 meters in length. Return to Granada; Overnight in Granada.

Day 03 GRANADA-VOLCAN MOMBACHO

Early in the morning to the lower slope of Mombacho Volcano, to the Biological Station; observe the unique beauty of the cloud forest. As you ascent appreciate the splendid flora and fauna, the diversity of environment with endemic species, stunning trees, ferns, bromeliads and orchids.  At the top we will enjoy the impressive panoramic view of the small islands and Granada City below; we summit walking through the Elfin Forest, characterized by its wind twisted trunks and shrub-like tree tops.  Lunch (optional).  Afternoon at your own leisure, take an optional canopy tour on the lower slopes of the volcano.  Accommodation in Granada in its historical center full of wonderful colonial buildings.

Day 04 GRANADA-OMETEPE

In the morning we depart to San Jorge Port where and board a boat to Ometepe Island.  ClimbFirst start with a partial ascent of the Conception volcano; in the afternoon tour the island, visit the archeological museum of Altagracia, etc..  Accommodation in Hotel Villa Paraiso.

Day  05 OMETEPE

Early in the morning start climbing the Madera Volcano; reach the top where you can enjoy a bath in the lagoon of its crater, if you desired it.  Late afternoon return to the hotel. 

Day  06 OMETEPE-LEON. 

Today we will have the opportunity to appreciate the volcanic chain that runs through Nicaragua. From San Jorge we will continue to the west of Nicaragua, to the beautiful university town of Leon and Chinandega.  En route we will visit Old Leon Ruins from where we can see the Momotombo Volcano, which eruption destroyed Leon in 1610.  Next continue to Leon for a city tour visit the Cathedral, Ruben Dario´s Tomb, from top of which we will have the panoramic view of the volcanic chain.  Next we'll continue our trip to Los Hervideros de San Jacinto, to observe the "breathers of Santa Clara Volcano" - small craters with boiling mud and water vapor.  Overnight in Leon.

Day 07 LEON-CHINANDEGA

Departure early to continue our views from the road traversing part of the volcanic chain of Telica, Casitas and San Cristóbal volcanoes, arriving at the entrance to Chinandega.  From here drive on 60 kilometers further to the  Cosigüina Farm on the lower slope of Cosigüina volcano; learn about local farm life, taste the local food, the famous small rings (named “rosquillas”) and coffee. Then take a ride in a 4 x 4 vehicle for a closer view of the chain from the lower slope of Cosigüina volcano; reach the crater of the volcano with its impressive panoramic view of the Gulf of Fonseca, a unique place from where you can see the borders of three central American countries:  Nicaragua, El Salvador and Honduras.  Lunch and free time to take pictures.  Return and overnight in Chinandega.

Day 08 CHINANDEGA-EL REALEJO-CHICHIGALPA-MANAGUA

Check out and depart for Paso Caballos, El Realejo, first commercial port during the Spanish conquest, the Island El Cardon, a place of inspiration of the poet Ruben Dario. Continue to Chichigalpa to visit the factory of Flor de Caña Rum, taste this famous Nicaraguan rum, if you wish, the return to Managua.

Breakfast, then to eco site called “El Chocoyero”, walk narrow paths in thick woods where these type of birds nest all the time. Continue to Catarina and San Juan de Oriente, appreciate the very best of national crafts. Transfer back to Granada.

Day 05 GRANADA-OMETEPE
Breakfast. Departure to the port of San Jorge to the Island of Ometepe. Check in at the Hotel “Villa Paraiso 3*. In the afternoon tour the Island, visit the archaeological museum in the town of Altagracia, La Punta Jesús María and the Charco Verde lake. Transfer back to the hotel.

Day 06 OMETEPE
Breakfast. Depart for Maderas Volcano, pleasant walk to arrive at the cascades; visit Hacienda Magdalena, appreciate Idols of the Mayan Culture. Dinner at Hotel Villa Paraiso.

Day 07 OMETEPE-SAN JUAN DEL SUR
Breakfast. Transfer to Port san Jorge; continue to San Juan del Sur town; at your leisure at the beach. Lodging at Hotel Piedras y Olas.

Day 08 SAN JUAN DEL SUR-MANAGUA
Breakfast. Transfer to Managua and city tour. Overnight at Hotel Mansion.

Day 09 MANAGUA-LEON
Breakfast, then on to Leon. Besides being the first city founded by the Spaniards, it constitutes the intellectual craddle of poet Rubén Darío, Father of Modernism and Prince of Castellan Letters. Visit the most important churches in the city: La Recolección, El Calvario, etc., the magnificent and splendorous Cathedral, inside of which lay the remains of Rubén Darío, and from the top of its domes experience the almost perfect alignment of the volcanic mountain range. Visit to the boiling mud pools of San Jacinto and geysers located at the slopes of the Santa Clara Volcano, which waters contain sulfides used for medicinal purposes. Back to León and overnight at Hotel Los Balcones 3*

Day 10 LEON-CHINANDEGA
Breakfast and continue to Chinandega, 60 km of León. Visit to Corinto Port, El Realejo and El Viejo. Visit of the sanctuary of the virgin of El Viejo. Overnight in Chinandega Hotel Los Volcanes.

Day 11 CHINANDEGA-ESTELI
Breakfast. Departure to Estelí by Empalme de San Isidrio. Tobacco tour of plantations and visit factory. Lunch at local restaurant. Overnight in Hotel Moderno or similar.

Day 12 ESTELI-MATAGALPA
Breakfast. Continue to Matagalpa. Lodging at hotel on mountain Selva Negra.

Day 13 MATAGALPA – LAGUNA DE APOYO
Breakfast. Continue to Apoyo Lagoon.Overnight in a small hotel located on the shores of Apoyo lagoon.

Day 14 LAGUNA DE APOYO
Breakfast. Free day at Apoyo Lagoon.

Day 15 LAGUNA DE APOYO-SAN CARLOS-LOS GUATUZOS
Transfer to the airport for a domestic flight to San Carlos. Transfer by boat to Los Guatuzos, sail amidst exuberant vegetation to the small hotel where we will lodge. Horseback ride, visit indigenous community. Boat tour, observing night reptiles. Lodging in the refuge dorm.

Day 16 RESERVE “LOS GUATUZOS”- SOLENTINAME ISLAND
Visit to the Natural Reserve Las Guatuzas with a collection of 90 species of orchids, 7 species of heliconias, mariposario. Transfer by boat to Solentiname Island and visit Solentiname's archipelago, visit the Islands Elvis Chavarría and Mancarrón, the museum Solentiname and the Church where the "Misa Campesina" was founded. We will visit the craftsmen of the islands and will be able to converse with the inhabitants of these communities. Have lunch, then return to the refuge, dinner.

Day 17 “LOS GUATUZOS” RESERVE - MANAGUA
Departure to San Carlos and back to Managua. Lodging at Hotel Camino Real.
