DAY 01: BELIZE
Arrivie at international airport of
Belize. Pick up and transfer to
Belize City passing by the Blue
Hole, a natural swimming pool in the
Caribbean waters with more than 120
meters in depth,
continue to San Ignacio. Dinner and
lodging.
DAY 02: BELIZE-XUNANTUNICH-SAN
IGNACIO
Breakfast. At 07:30 a.m. we will
depart to do a full day trip by
Mayan lands, starting et the
Ceremonial Center Xunantunich (means maid of stone) accessible only
by ferry, which depart daily from
San José Succotz. The most relevant
structure in this place is El
Castillo, a Pyramid of 130 ft high
at the south point of the main
complex. We will climb the pyramid
using a spiral path. From the top it
is possible to have a beautiful view
of Belize and even of Guatemala. We will continue
our trip learning the local flora and
its medicinal uses. Lunch. Afternoon
on to Cahal Pech, on Macal River, an
important Mayan place with nice view of San Ignacio. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 03 SAN IGNACIO-TIKAL-GUATEMALA
Breakfast. Departure for the border to Guatemala and
visit to the Ruins of the National
Park Tikal. Visit the Q complex, the
Main Square, the Center and North
Acropolis, the Lost World, the
Temple IV, Museum of History and
others important places. Lunch. Afternoon transfer to the
airport of Flores to fly to Guatemala
City. Reception and transfer to the
hotel.
DAY 04 GUATEMALA-CIUDAD
ANTIGUA-GUATEMALA
Breakfast. Departure for one of the most antique
cities of American Continent:
Ancient Guatemala, founded by the
Spaniards in 1543, during the
Conquest period. The UNESCO has
declared Ancient Guatemala the
Cultural Heritage
Site, a
city of ruins, churches and
convents, but also of many
hotels, restaurants, handicrafts,
and museums. Lunch and afternoon
return to the capital. Lodging.
DAY 05 GUATEMALA-
CHICHICASTENANGO-ATITLAN-GUATEMALA
Breakfast. At 07:00 a.m.
depart to Lake Atitlan located in Solola Department, 126 kilometers
from Guatemala City, said to be one of
the most beautiful lakes in the
world. On the way a brief stop at a
typical restaurant in Tecpan. On to Chichicastenango, which means “place
of nettles” in Nahualt tongue, is
one of the most popular places of
the trip. Founded in 1524 by the
survivors of the Spaniards' attacks
on the capital Quiché, Utatlan. The
Santo Domingo church built in 1540
on the ruins of a Maya Temple in an
intent to eradicate all the remains
of the indigenous culture and to extend
the colonial control on the area; the
rituals practiced inside the church
are a mix of the prehispanic and
Christians ceremonies. A living
museum, the streets of “Chichi” are
saturated in the believes of its
Quiche inhabitants. The city its full of
life on Thursday and Sunday when the
market is located on the square,
venders, who come from the
surrounding areas, are grouped here
to sell its products, flowers,
livestock, and handicrafts, in an atmosphere
that has changed little from centuries ago.
Continue to visit Panajachel, a
village on the shores of Atitlan
Lake, a popular tourist site
with impressive view of
the lake and its three volcanoes.
The majority of the hotels and
restaurants here are located among
coffee plantations and beautiful
gardens. Return to Guatemala City.
DAY 06 GUATEMALA-COPAN (HONDURAS)
Breakfast. 05:00 a.m.
depart to Quirigua in the Valley
of River Matagua next to Honduras
border; see a large Mayan Stele at this moment.
Continue across
the border to Copan Ruins area.
Lunch then on to
one of the most beautiful
archeological sites of the Mayan
World from 1,200 year B.C. - visit
the
Acropolis, Temple XI and Altar Q
erected by Yac-Pac the last King of
Copan, and the museum. Lodging.
DAY 07 COPAN-SANTA ROSA-SAN SALVADOR
Breakfast. Departure to Santa Rosa,
a picturesque
colonial city and one of the most
important urban centers of Honduras,
founded in 1812, a region of
coffee and tobacco cultivation; see
its Cathedral with
altars carved in wood and vitrales of the XVII
century. Continue through the village of New Ocotepeque
and San Ignacio where we
will lunch; near is La
Palma, town of handicrafts made of
woods, and region abounding in many
species of orchids and bromeliaces,
on to El
Salvador border at El Poy. Lodging.
DAY 08 SAN SALVADOR-SUCHITOTO-SAN
SALVADOR
Breakfast. Tour
the capital of El Salvador, continue to Suchitoto,
a picturesque colonial city located 44
kilometers from the capital on
shores of Suchitlan Lake.
Lunch. Afternoon return to
San Salvador and lodging.
DAY 09 SAN SALVADOR-JOYAS DE CEREN-SAN
ANDRES-SAN SALVADOR
Breakfast. Visit one of the most
important pre-Columbian settlements,
Joys de Ceren, which was
buried under the ashes of the
Caldera volcano eruption about 1400
years ago, view the excavated
adobes, with kitchens, ceramics of mud containing
petrified beans, obsidian and jade
knifes, all as if frozen, a
UNESCO World
Heritage Site. Next visit the San Andres ruins
and the picturesque lake Coatepeque.
Lunch and afternoon return to
San Salvador and lodging.
DAY 10 SAN SALVADOR-CHINANDEGA
(NICARAGUA)
Breakfast. Departure to border El
Amatillo, passing by the towns of
Usulutan and San Miguel, a journey
offering fine views of the volcanic
chain of El Salvador formed by four
spectacular volcanoes: San Vicente Chichontepec, Tecapa, Usulutan and
San Miguel. Crossing to Honduras we
continu to the border with Nicaragua, El Guasaule. Lunch
en route in Choluteca on the Honduran side,
then on into Nicargua, arriving in Chinandega.
Lodging at Hotel Los Volcanoes.
DAY 11 CHINANDEGA-LEON-MANAGUA
Breakfast. Departure to Chichigalpa
to visit the factory of
the famous Nicaraguan rum Flor de
Caña. We will observe the process of
manufacture of the rum, the
cultivation of sugar cane as well as taste
this famous liquor. The we continue
to Hervideros de
San Jacinto, an area full of small
craters of boiling mud and hot
vapors on the slopes of Santa Clara Volcano.
Then it's on the colonial
city of Leon, admire
the most beautiful Cathedral in
Nicaragua, lunch and
depart to Managua.
DAY 12 MANAGUA
Breakfast. Tour
Managua, visiting El Malecón,
National Theater, Historical Center,
Old Cathedral, National Museum
located in the National Palace of
Culture, Museum of Acahualinca´s
Footprints. Afternoon free.
DAY 13 MANAGUA-GRANADA
Breakfast. Today we will go to
Granada (45 kilometers from Managua),
a jewel of colonial architecture.
Trip to the Volcano Mombacho,
an eco reserve of cloud forest
studded with ferns,
orchids and endemic fauna. Admire the Elfin Forest, the
cultivation of coffee and stunning
views of the Lake Nicaragua. Then
it's back to Granada and a walk in
the Historical Center of narrow
streets and aura of era of the Spanish
Conquest. Lunch and lodging in
Granada.
DAY 14 GRANADA-FRONTERA DE PEÑAS
BLANCAS-MONTEVERDE (COSTA RICA)
Breakfast. Departure to Costa Rica
border, passing the shores of
Lake Cocibolca from where we will
see the volcanoes Concepcion and
Maderas in Ometepe Island, a great
panorama. After
we pass the frontier, we continu to
Montverde, one of the most important
wildlife
sanctuaries in the Americas. Lodging.
In the afternoon a specialized guide
will take us to observe some of the
300 species of migratory birds
residing in the region. Dinner and
lodging.
DAY 15 MONTEVERDE-SAN JOSE
Breakfast. Free at your own leisure
- take a canopy tour, go horseback
riding, itc. After
lunch we will continue our trip
arriving at San José, capital of
Costa Rica, where we will lodge.
DAY 16 SAN JOSE
Breakfast. City tour
- the National
Theater, the Jade
Museum (houses interesting
pre-Columbian objects as well as
contemporary art works), the Metallic Building,
the National Assembly, the Supreme
Court, the Justice Tribunals and
many other interesting government
buildings, finishing our trip with a
visit to the handicrafts market.
Afternoon free.
DAY 17 SAN JOSE-VOLCAN
POAS-GRECIA-SARCHI-SAN JOSE
Start the day with a trip to the Volcano Poas
National Park; then on to the
traditional towns of Grecian and Sarchi. Return to San Jose and lodging.
DAY 18 SAN JOSE-PANAMA
Breakfast and transportation to the
airport for flight to Panama.
Reception and transfer to your hotel.
City tour visiting museums and
historical monuments of the Casco
Viejo. Lunch and afternoon free to
go shopping.
DAY 19 PANAMA-RIO CHAGRES-LAGO GATUN-PANAMA
Breakfast. Visit to Chagres River, an ecological paradise. There
you can observe different species
of monkeys, gatosolos and birds.
Visit to the community of
Chacoe-Embera who are still using the
poisoned darts to hunt, and the men decorate
their bodies
using a mix of ashes and vegetable
pigments. Take a ride on the river
using motorized “piragua”.
Lunch, swim and rest. Return to
Panama City.
DAY 20 PANAMA
Breakfast. At indicated hour
transfer to the airport for your
departure.
