In Quest of the Snow Leopard
January to March is the best season to sight the elusive snow leopard of Ladakh; this tour strives to bring you the experience of seeing one of the three species known to inhabit the vast expanses of Ladakh.

 

Itinerary:

 

Day 1:   Fly Delhi to Leh and rest.
Day 2:   Sightseeing around Leh.
Day 3:   Leh to Phey Gompa by car; overnight in local house.
Day 4:   Trek Phey to Rumchung 4/5hr
Day 5:   Early morning trek looking for the fresh footprints of the snow leopard. 6/7hr
Day 6:   Early morning trek in search of snow leopard. 5hr
Day 7:   Rumchung to Zingchen (p.m. discussion with local people regarding the current movement of the snow leopard.) 4hr
Day 8:   Zingchen to Rumbak; overnight in local house. 3hr
Day 9:   Rumbak to Yurutse; overnight in local house. 4hr
Day 10: Yurutse towards Gandala pass; watch for eagles and red beak crow as usually these birds follow the movements of the snow leopard and scavenge for caught prey the leopard may leave behind. 6/7hr
Day 11: Yurutse to Phey then back to Leh (if we have seen the snow leopard, or stay one more day in Yurutse and return the following day)
Day 12: Rest in Leh or Yurutse, then return to Phey and from there back to Leh
Day 13: Fly Leh – Delhi
