Trek into Zanskar and on over Shingo La

India Tours main page                           Ladakh Tours main page

Trek highlights
This trek is for those that want to continue all the way to Darcha after reaching Padum. The route via Shingo La is the most popular trail into Zanskar. However, our approach is from the opposite direction, starting from the famous monastery of Lamayuru in Ladakh. Days after leaving Lamayuru we enter Zanskar passing through some of the most isolated villages of the region, Photoksar and Lingshed among others, arriving in the capital of Zanskar, Padum, along the course of the Zanskar River and the spectacular sites of Zangla and Karsha monasteries. From here we continue to Darcha in Himachal Paradesh on the Manali - Leh highway over the impressive Shingo La (5100m), leaving Zanskar, the mysterious Shangri-la, for once and all. Map below!
