Trek highlights |
|
This trek leads to the remote villages of Zanskar
accessible by foot only. Wandering through some of the most remote regions of
the world, visiting the great monasteries of Karsha, Badran and Phukthal, the
three of the most stunning monasteries of the Buddhist world, this trek is like
none other. Starting from the famous monastery of Lamayuru in Ladakh, the oldest
monastery in the region, we enter Zanskar passing through some of the most
isolated villages of the region, Photoksar and Lingshed among others, arriving
in the capital of Zanskar, Padum, along the course of the Zanskar River and the
spectacular sites of Zangla and Karsha monasteries. From here we return back to
Leh via the stunning Suru Valley, over the Pensi La pass, stopping in the
isolated Rangdum Gompa on the way, and spending a night in Kargil near the
frontier with Pakistan.
