Trek highlights
Containing the drainage basin of large trans-Himalayan lakes, Rupshu is a landscape of open high-altitude valleys scoured by wind where the Chang-pa nomads graze their herds of goats and yaks. The trek starts from the Hemis monastery, the most famous of Ladakh's monasteries, then skirts the spectacular Kang Yatze Peak (6400m) and ends not far from the Baralacha Pass on the Leh - Manali road, en route traversing three 5000 meter passes with fantastic views. The tour includes the visit of Likir and Alchi monasteries before the start of the trek. After we reach Takh, the terminus of our trek on the Manali - Leh road, we'll drive to Manali in Himachal Pradesh and from there return to Delhi. Map below!
