Itinerary -
Start: Thu
Thu Day 1, Arrival & Transfer to Antigua
On arrival at Guatemala City guests are met by our
bi-lingual driver for their transfer to Antigua (1hour)
Antigua 3N.
Fri Day 2, Comalapa Market (B)
Transfer out to the village of Comalapa to visit this
authentic and colorful market. Comalapa is also famous for
its local primitive artists and guests can visit with them
in local galleries.
Sat Day 3, City Tour, Antigua Market & Coffee Farm (B)
Guests will take a half day tour of Antigua. tour takes in
the main square, palace, Cathedral, La Merced Church,
Capuchinas Convento, St Clara & San Francsico Church & the
market. All entrances are included. In the afternoon visit
the local woodcarvers in Jocotenango & then the fabulous
Azotea Coffee Farm & Maya Traditions Museums covering
traditional music, costume & traditions.
Sun Day 4, Chichicastenango Market (B)
Transfer approx. 2hrs to the famous market at Chichi. Full
of arts and crafts this market is great for displaying the
array of local crafts available in Guatemala as well as for
personal shopping. Transfer on to Lake Atitlan. Spend the
rest of the day relaxing at your lakeside hotel. Lake
Atitlan 2N.
Mon Day 5, Santiago & Maximon (B,L)
Today guests take a boat across the lake to visit some of
the local Mayan villages with a local guide. All the time
enjoying the scenery of this spectacularly beautiful Lake
with surrounding volcanoes. At Santiago village guests can
visit the Maya God Maximon & perhaps see a ritual in
progress. After lunch guests return to their hotel to relax
for the rest of he afternoon. Guests can also arrange
locally to kayak on the lake, go horse riding or hike.
Tue Day 6, Solola Market to Xela (B)
Guests transfer 3hrs this morning through the northern
highlands to
the town of Quetzaltenango or “Xela” as it is known locally.
They
will visit the wonderful local market at Solola on route and
spend the
afternoon exploring Xela. Overnight in Xela Town 2N.
Wed Day 7, Almolonga Market (B)
Today guests will spend the day visiting various towns and
points of interest in the area with the highlight of
visiting thefamous vegetable market at Almolonga. Don’t
forget to go into the church and ask them to put the lights
on for you. Youwill have to make a small contribution but it
is an interesting sight! Also today visit the Zunil Textile
Coopoerative, Copavic Blown Glass factory & the hot springs
at Fuentes Georginas.
Thu Day 8, S. Andres Xecul & Toto Cultural Program (B)
This morning visit the famous yellow church in the town of
San Andres Xecul on market day when locals come from all the
neighboring villages to sell their wares and buy for the
week. Then onto Totonicapan for a traditional lunch with
music and dance entertainment in traditional costumes and a
visit to their cultural program to visit local artisans.
Transfer back to Antigua. Antigua 2N
Fri Day 9, Free day in Antigua (B)
At the end of such an adventurous and fast paced tour guests
can enjoy a free day to relax and get all that last minute
shopping done.
Sat Day 10, Transfer Out (B)
This morning our driver will transfer guests to the airport
in plenty of time to catch their international flight
onwards.
