Magic of Colorado, Eastern Utah & Northern Arizona

Grand Canyon Route highlights

There is certainly more than one route to reach the one and only Grand Canyon of Northern Arizona, but the best lead through Colorado and Eastern Utah. Traversing the entire length of Colorado one can gain the feel for the grandeur of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Upon entering Utah, the landscape changes into surreal rock formations of unparallel beauty. One of the most spectacular sites in all of the United States comes into view near Moab, the cross-country bike capital of North America - the Arches National Park. From here a stunning two-lane road follows south to the Four Corners area where Utah Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado states meet at a single geographic point. Monument Valley Tribal Park of the Navajo nation straddles the Arizona - Utah line and you can see its buttes silhouette on the skyline from some fifty miles away. And you finally reach the scenic overlook with the towering buttes all around, the site leave you speechless. What an unforgettable introduction what still lies beyond - the Grand Canyon itself! There is no point to attempt here to express the natural wonder the Grand Canyon is, rightly so known as truly one of World's Natural Wonders! And even though this may be the ultimate destination of our journey, backtracking to Colorado one is yet to experience plenty more unforgettable sites - the Mesa Verde National Park of the Anasazi cliff dwellings, the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, glamorous ski resort of Aspen, a number of Colorado's high mountain passes to cross, ghost towns, historic gold rush Victorian towns to visit, and much more, all of which is up to you, your available time to travel and your pocketbook to include or skip - for ideas what to incorporate into your return journey back from the Grand Canyon, please see one of our Grand Colorado Skyways itineraries.
