To dispel the myth about the rates and prices for tours in Bhutan for once and all, please read the following minimum tariffs set by the Bhutan Government. Please remember that these are the net rates that all foreign tour operator have to pay in Bhutan to their Bhutanese partners, all of whom are only allowed to carry out the tours in Bhutan and all of whom must be licensed by the Bhutan Government.

  International Tourist Tariff

a. Set by the Bhutan Government, the minimum tariff for a tourist visiting in a group of three persons or more is as follows:

US$ 200 per person per day   Low Season Tariff
(January, February, June, July, August & December
US$ 180 per person per day
The tariffs are the same for the cultural tours as well as the trekking itineraries!
b. The minimum daily package rates shall be inclusive of the following services:
 
1.
35% royalty & taxes to the Government
2.
charges for accommodation on twin sharing basis
3.
all meals
4.
service of a guide
5.
all transfers/transport within Bhutan as per itinerary; and riding ponies & pack animals on treks, where necessary as per itinerary
6.
fees to monasteries, temples and monuments
c. The rates given above shall apply uniformly irrespective of location and the type of accommodation establishment provided. The Department of Tourism approves these accommodation establishments.
d. There shall be no charge for delays in departure because of weather conditions disrupting flights or roadblocks, however, the tourist must bear the cost of food, accommodation, transport and other services required. 

 

Tariff for individual and small groups (FITs)
a. Individual tourists and smaller groups less than three persons shall be subject to surcharge, over and above the minimum daily rates applicable as follows:
 
Single Individual: US$ 40 per person per day    Two only: US$ 30 per person per day

Discount on tourist tariff
a. DIPLOMATS from foreign embassies/missions that are accredited to Bhutan shall be given 25% discount on daily rates.
b. There shall be no charge for CHILDREN up to the age of 5 years. However those between the age of 6-12 years accompanied by elders/guardians shall be given 40% discount on daily rates. 
c. Full time STUDENTS below the age of 25 years holding valid identity cards from their academic institutions shall be given 25% discount on daily rates.
d. A discount of 50% on daily rates shall be given to one person in a group of 12-16 persons. A 100% discount shall be given to one member in a group exceeding 16 persons. (Note: In order to ensure quality service and our concern to provide the best Bhutan experience to our esteemed clients, we do not accept bookings more than 16 persons in a group.)
  Single Room Supplement

(i). High Season (Mar, Apr, May, Sept, Oct & Nov): US$ 30 per person per night
(ii). Low Season (Jan, Feb, Jun, Jul, Aug & Dec): US$ 20 per person per night
